Mince Pie Puff Pastry Snowflake (gluten free and dairy free)

My festive mince pie filled puff pastry snowflake requires just 4 ingredients, is super easy to make and is a tasty twist on a classic mince pie. If you do make this recipe I’d love to see, don’t forget to tag me in your photos over on social media!

Which pastry do you use?

For this recipe I use 2 sheets of the Jus Rol Gluten Free Puff Pastry  which can be purchased in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose.

How long will the snowflake last?

This snowflake is best served warm and fresh from the oven.

What is Mincemeat?

If you are not from the UK you may be unaware of what mincemeat is. It’s not to be confused with minced meat and is a sweet mixture of chopped fruit (such as raisins and currants), spices and distilled spirits.

Mince Pie Puff Pastry Snowflake

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Servings 6 people

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets gluten free puff pastry *See FAQs
  • 1 jar mincemeat
  • 1 egg (for an egg wash)
  • Icing sugar (to dust, optional)

Instructions

  • Pre heat oven to 180°C and line a large circular baking tray with baking paper.
  • Unroll both sheets of puff pastry and cut both into 9 inch circles (I did this by tracing a bowl to ensure both sheets were the same size).
  • Place one of the circles onto the lined baking tray and spread the mincemeat so that it covers the entire circle. Place the other circle on top and press them together lightly to seal.
  • Mark the centre of the circle using a small cookie cutter or glass.
  • Cut the circle into 16 equal sized pieces (start by cutting into 4, then 8, then 16). Grab 2 pieces of pastry and twist them 2 or 3 times, continue to do this for all of the pieces of pastry until you have the snowflake.
  • Brush with beaten egg (or dairy free milk for a vegan option) and bake in the oven for around 25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Dust with icing sugar and serve warm.

I absolutely love seeing what you’ve created, so if you do make this recipe (or any other recipe from my website) don’t forget to tag me over on my social media pages @glutenfreealice and use the hashtag #glutenfreealice
