Evexia Thrive is a UK-based fresh noodle and pasta company who specialise in creating free from pasta so that everyone, including people with allergies and intolerances, can enjoy the range.
I was recently sent a box of this pasta to try out and have thoroughly enjoyed how quick and easy it was to make as well as how delicious it tasted! The gluten free pasta range includes 4 products: Chickpea Fusilli (also dairy free), Penne (also dairy free), Spinach & Ricotta Tortellini (contains milk) and Tomato & Mozzarella Tortellini (contains milk).
About the products:
Chickpea Fusilli – Gluten free fusilli made from ground chickpeas which is gluten free, dairy free, egg free, a source of fibre, a source of protein, low GL and suitable for vegans.
I have loved trying the chickpea fusilli as it’s a perfect healthier alternative to normal pasta. The pasta only takes 3 minutes to boil so again, great if you are in a rush and looking for a quick and easy meal. I had my pasta over the warm bank holiday weekend in a tuna pasta salad and it was delicious. I added a tin of tuna, dairy free mayonnaise, lettuce and sweetcorn. It would also be perfect for taking to work or school for lunch.
Penne – Gluten free fresh pasta made from corn and rice flour which is gluten free, dairy free, egg free and suitable for vegans.
Pasta is definitely one of my favourite meals and something that we eat a lot of in our house. I have always brought the gluten free dried pasta but find that it can sometimes go very stodgy and fall apart easily. Luckily, I didn’t have the same problem with the Evexia Thrive fresh penne and it reminded me of the sort of gluten free pasta I love to order in Carluccios (yum)! Another bonus is that it only takes 4 minutes to cook in boiling water so perfect for those nights you are in a hurry, served with a simple pasta sauce! I made a delicious sausage pasta dish with a homemade sauce, gluten free Tesco sausages and veggies and it went down very well with my non coeliac boyfriend too! A definite winner in our house!
The range also includes 2 filled pastas which are also gluten free but unfortunately are not dairy free as well. I therefore did not try these products as I am also milk intolerant. I have however, heard very good things about this delicious range from my Coeliac friends.
Spinach & Ricotta Tortellini (Not dairy free) – Fresh gluten free pasta filled with spinach and ricotta which is gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and contains free range egg.
Tomato and Mozzarella Tortellini (Not dairy free) – Fresh gluten free pasta filled with tomato, mozzarella and basil which is gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and contains free range egg.
These filled pastas only need to be cooked for a minute or less which is perfect if you are in a rush or trying to cook a quick and easy meal.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the fresh penne and chickpea fusilli if you are a Coeliac (and milk intolerant) pasta lover like me! If you are interested, these can be brought in Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda and online via Ocado.
Let me know what you think if you do try the pasta!
