Gluten and dairy free finds in Brighton!

Brighton is a place in the UK that I had never actually been to before, so I was very excited to visit last week, especially after all of the amazing things that I had heard about their gluten and dairy free options! I have to say, it most definitely lived up to it’s expectations and I was amazed at how many cafes, shops and restaurants catered for freefrom needs! I don’t think I went longer than 5 minutes without passing somewhere that had signs for gluten and dairy free cakes!

It was a shame that I wasn’t in Brighton for longer but whilst I was there I found lots of places that I would recommend if you are going to be visiting. All of the places listed below were situated within walking distance of Brighton town centre, the sea front and the Laines.

Bagelman. (Various Locations – 16 Duke Street, BN1 1AH. Railway Station, BN1 3XP. 7 Bond Street, BN1 1RD)

Bagelman is located in various different locations around Brighton (Listed above) and was amazing for a quick and on the go lunch! They sell gluten free bagels which are also milk free (note: the bagels do contain egg so are not vegan) with a variety of gluten and milk free fillings. I went for chicken, bacon and avocado with sweet chilli sauce which was toasted. I wish I had chance to try more of their bagel fillings and would love to have this sort of option for lunch where I live!

Infinity Foods. (25 North Rd, BN1 1YA)

I stumbled across Infinity Foods within about 10 minutes of arriving at Brighton station and was amazed at all of the amazing gluten and dairy free products inside (as well as plenty of vegan options!). The shop was similar to (but a smaller version of) Wholefoods and also had a bakery section at the back which had an amazing stand with gluten free (and vegan) pizza, cakes and fresh bread! Finding gluten free options to eat out has never been so easy!

Infinity Foods Kitchen (50 Gardner St, North Laines, BN1 1UN)

As well as Infinity Foods shop, you can also stroll round the corner to Gardner Street where you will find Infinity Foods Kitchen which has a wide range of delicious, freshly cooked, seasonally inspired, organic food available to eat in or take away. They sell coffee, breakfasts, lunches and plenty of cakes for the sweet toothed like me! I picked up a raw gluten free, dairy free and vegan chocolate vanilla cheesecake to take away and it was delicious!

Black Mocha Cafe. (103 Gloucester Rd, BN1 4AP)

Black Mocha Cafe is another quirky coffee shop located in the North Laines area of Brighton with a huge array of gluten free, dairy free and vegan cakes! I picked up a vegan/gluten free/dairy free ‘snickers’ bar which was also refined sugar free! A great hang out place which is perfect for a mid morning coffee and cake.

Boho Gelato. (6 Pool Valley, BN1 1NJ)

The ice cream shop of dreams! – Boho Gelato has a range of over 325 different ice cream flavours which they change daily! They also offer vegan, dairy free and gluten free flavours and I went for passionfruit and grape sorbet. Delicious!

Cloud 9 Bakery. (Various locations: 15 Brighton Pl, BN1 1HJ. 15a Kensington Gardens, BN1 4AL)

Cloud 9 bakery sells a huge array of cakes and ice creams which are all made fresh daily. I found a lovely gluten free, dairy free and vegan chocolate vanilla cupcake which I took away with me to eat the following day. Cloud 9 sells a variety of non gluten cakes so be sure to pop in to see what you can find!

Gelato Gusto. (2 Gardner Street, BN1 1UP)

Gelato Gusto is located in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine on Gardner Street. It’s the perfect location to sit and enjoy a scoop of homemade gelato a classic dessert or a freshly ground cup of coffee. We actually went into the shop to get my boyfriend an ice cream but I thought I would ask if they sold any gluten and dairy free options. Turned out they had 8 different dairy free flavours along with gluten free cones! – Perfect! I chose a peanut chocolate flavour in a gluten free wafer cone.

I hope you enjoyed this blog about my gluten and dairy free finds in Brighton – I really would have loved to spend more time there to suss out more restaurants and dinner options but I am already looking forward to my next visit.
